Since returning to Korea I’ve been commuting a lot. When I was in Seoul last year, I was living in an area populated with the youth of the three surrounding universities. This year I’m living in Ilsan - a large open clean city north of Seoul. For however nice Ilsan is I find myself commuting to Seoul at least three times a week. From my point of departure it’s a 40 minute bus ride. At first that bus ride was annoying and it felt like a waste of time. 40 minutes of my day spent looking at the towns and country side between Seoul and Ilsan. 40 minutes of my time where I had no option but to sit still and wait for the announcement informing me that I had arrived in front of Yonsei University. However, recently I realised you can actually get a lot done in that 40 minutes. I receive a lot of music from Keikaku that I never let myself listen to; a pile of Korean films that I put on the back-burner in favour of animation or less challenging to watch Hollywood films; Korean vocabulary books that I made and I never got around to memorising. All those things soon became part of the time spent on the bus. I started to become more cultured, discovered music I would have let slip by me and my Korean went up a level. The negatives of the commute were soon forgotten.

I guess I let life get in the way of this blog. I’ve been intending to start writing here again for a while. I also have plans to evolve this blog starting with a redesign after I finish up some other projects. Look forward to the return of Reptaro.
